Course Overview:

The Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) is a two-year comprehensive vocational program designed to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in clinical diagnostics and laboratory sciences. This program is recognized by Bharat Sevak Samaj (BSS), Chennai, a national development agency promoted by the Planning Commission, Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Anatomy and Physiology

2. Biochemistry I

3. Haematology I

  • Blood composition and morphology

  • Blood sample collection, vacutainer use, and safety protocols

  • CBC and Complete Haemogram

  • Hb%, PCV, MCV, MCHC & ESR estimation

4. Clinical Pathology

  • Urine and stool examination (Routine and Culture)

  • Sample labeling, handling, and storage

  • Microscopy and sediment analysis

Year 2 – Advanced Diagnostics & Specialized Techniques:

5. Haematology II & Blood Banking

  • Blood grouping, Rh typing, and cross-matching

  • Coagulation tests and transfusion protocols

6. Microbiology

  • Microbial classification and laboratory identification

  • Culture techniques and sterilization

  • Diagnosis of infectious diseases

7. Biochemistry II

  • Blood sugar and protein analysis

  • Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)

  • Use of Semi-Auto Analyser and Colorimeter

8. Histopathology

  • Tissue preparation and staining

  • Microtome use for slide preparation

  • Monocular & Binocular Microscopy

9. Immunology & Serology

  • ELISA technique and strip reader operation

  • Rapid diagnostic test kits and interpretation
